When I got back to my car, a woman had pulled up in the second charging bay (which accesses the same charging point). While I had enough charge to continue my journey, she was already on the phone trying to find the nearest alternative charging point, as she desperately needed to recharge. She had a young child in the car with her. I wonder what she will be saying to her friends when they ask her about her experience of using an EV.
Just got back from a shopping trip. Tried to top up at the Ecotricty charge point at Ikea in Bletchley. The pump seemed to be stuck at a point where a previous user had been asked to swipe their card on the card reader to enable the charge to stop and the cable to be disconnected. Clearly, the user had disconnected, as their car was nowhere to be seen. The charge point, however, was unable to proceed to accept my request to charge. I found a member of Ikea staff, who was very pleasant and helpful but said that he had contacted Ecotricity but they had (for some time) been trying to work out what was wrong in order to know how to fix it. He had put an “out of order” sign on the pump, but a member of the public had removed it.
