World population expected to peak at between 9 and 10 billion later this century.
How will we feed them all?
Over 50% already live in cities and this proportion is expected to rise.
Not realistic to increase amount of agricultural land, as this would severely damage chances of keeping climate change to within 2 degrees. Potential solutions are improved yields and managing demand, diet choices and distribution.
Retrofitting energy measures in the UK
Green Deal won't provide all the answers, but is a helpful push in the right direction. Will have to be complemented by other initiatives, such as RRLGFs (Revolving Retrofit Loan Guarantee Funds) to reduce barriers to big banks getting involved in the mass markets.
